ACADEMICS & MENTORING

Academic excellence is the major thrust of the Ivylette program. The grades for the Ivylette members are monitored with an emphasis on practicing good study habits. To help improve communication skills and assist with academic needs that are necessary to overcome the adversity of today’s teens, Ivylettes are paired with a female mentor who provides guidance and support.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Ivylettes community service projects include entertaining seniors at Fairlane Nursing Home, working with the Next Detroit Initiative by adopting a lot on Westminster and Oakland, restocking the toy shelf at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, participating in the Relay for Life Cancer Walk and the Annual Lupus Walk. Other activities include serving as hostesses for various business, professional and youth educational conferences and participating in youth non-traditional entrepreneur workshops. The Ivylettes also participate in fundraising activities to raise money for college scholarships.

The 2022 - 2023 application process for the Ivylettes is now open! We have also gone digital. This is a new process for us and is asking for your patience during this change. We are using a process called Jotform. There are three steps during this process. At a high level:

  • The candidate will initiate the application process using the jotform here: https://form.jotform.com/221527795499069
  • After submitting the form, emails will be sent to the parent and the two people asked to submit recommendations
  • The parent will click the edit submission link in the form to continue filling out the parent approval section of the application
  • After the parent submits the form again, the candidate will get another email notification. The parent will be routed to the payment screen to pay the application fee
  • The candidate will go back into the form and upload their grades on page 12 (parents must give approval first before grades can be submitted)
  • After the candidate submits the form, the process will be completed
