ACADEMICS & MENTORING

Academic excellence is the major thrust of the signature program. The grades for the Ivylette members are monitored with an emphasis on practicing good study habits. To help improve communication skills and assist with academic needs that are necessary to overcome the adversity of today’s teens, Ivylettes are paired with a female mentor who provides guidance and support. Ivylette members are required to maintain a 2.50 grade point average, attend monthly meetings, and participate in community service projects, fundraisers, and multicultural activities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Community service projects include entertaining seniors at Fairlane Nursing Home, working with the Next Detroit Initiative by adopting a lot on Westminster and Oakland, restocking the toy shelf at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, and participating in the Relay for Life Cancer Walk and the Annual Lupus Walk. Other activities include serving as hostesses for various business, professional, and youth educational conferences and participating in youth non-traditional entrepreneur workshops. The Ivylettes also participate in fundraising activities to help raise money for college scholarships.
